19/10/2020 Windows 4 Opportunity (#Windows4Opportunity) is a fundraising and donation drive led by Recruit Refugees Ireland (https://recruitrefugeesireland.com/), with support from a number of groups, including: Movement of Asylum Seekers Ireland, the Irish Refugee Council and Doras, to name a few.
Windows4Opportunity is aiming to provide laptop computers to 900 International Protection applicants currently enrolled in third level education courses in Ireland who are in need of computers. The move to online tuition as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic has left many people who are unable to access computers without the means to take part in lectures and coursework. With a weekly allowance of €38.80 for adult International Protection applicants living in Direct Provision, it is not possible for most people to purchase a laptop for coursework. Windows4Opportunity aims to provide people seeking protection in Ireland with the means to secure their own futures.
