Doras focuses on Education and Employment projects that offer one-to-one support and training to address barriers like education access, language acquisition, and job skills.
Our work in the area of Education and Employment covers a range of projects and support services addressing issues such as:
- Access to further and higher education opportunities
- Online education platform, SaorEd
- English language acquisition
- Support with CV writing, job search and interview skills
- Career guidance
- Confidence-building
- Building social networks
- Related immigration, discrimination, and international protection issues
We provide one-to-one information and support as well as group work and training initiatives that help people from migrant and refugee backgrounds to overcome the most common barriers to education and employment.

Our Gateway to Employment project works with migrants and employers to overcome some of the most significant barriers to employment faced by migrants in Ireland, such as limited local work experience and social networks, and language barriers.
We work with employers in all sectors supporting companies who want to hire people from a migrant background.
We empower job seekers from a migrant background to find employment in Ireland.
This project is funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF+ Employment, Inclusion, Skills & Training (‘EIST’) Programme 2021-2027.
The Doras weekly Employment Hub is an initiative developed under the EU-funded INTEgreat project and aims to assist international protection applicants, refugees, and migrants with their employment needs. The weekly meet-ups include thematic workshops about CVs and interviews, confidence building, employment rights and permits, and job hunting skills.
The Employment Hub is a child-friendly space where you can meet other people on their employment journey.

Fáilte Isteach, which means ‘Welcome In’ in the Irish language, is a community project involving predominantly older volunteers welcoming migrants and refugees through conversational English classes.
Join a free conversation class in Limerick and learn English with volunteers. No registration needed.

SaorEd, (Saor is the Irish word for free) provides access to a range of entry level and advanced courses, including English language, information technology (IT), and career preparation courses. The courses are mostly in English but navigation interfaces are provided in Arabic, Ukrainian, Turkish, German, Spanish, and Russian.
SaorEd is a collaborative initiative from Doras, New Horizon and Dignity Partnership. It is built on the Kiron online learning platform, which has been designed specifically for refugees and underserved communities and is already widely used in the Middle East and Europe.
