Current Opportunities

About the Community Sponsorship Programme
Community Sponsorship Ireland empowers local communities to directly support refugee families as they settle into Ireland. Volunteers play a vital role in helping families feel safe, welcome, and part of the community.

Right now, 15 families in refugee camps in Beirut, Lebanon, have been waiting since 2022 to be relocated to Ireland. We urgently need volunteers to support and welcome them.

What you’ll do as a Volunteer
As part of a Community Sponsorship Group, you’ll help a resettled family find their feet in their new home. Tasks may include:

  • Finding suitable housing
  • Fundraising to support the family as they settle
  • Helping with registrations for services (GP, schools, etc.)
  • Introducing the family to life in Ireland and your local area

Who we’re looking for
You don’t need special qualifications, just commitment, flexibility, and a willingness to help. Skills and experience in areas like the following are especially valuable (but not required):

  • Community development or social work
  • Education, training, or childcare
  • Fundraising, events, or advocacy
  • Hospitality, befriending, or intercultural work
  • Human rights or migrant support
  • Multilingual skills or experience with multicultural communities

Volunteers may sometimes handle sensitive personal information, so respecting privacy is essential.

Time Commitment
Around 5 hours per week.

How to Apply
Email cs@doras.org to find out more. If there’s no group in your area, we can help you connect with others locally or in nearby communities to form one.
