09/07/2021 – Doras and the Irish Refugee Council were invited to present to the Oireacthas Joint Committee on Public Petitions on the subject of Direct Provision policy and related matters.

Doras CEO John Lannon and Irish Refugee Council CEO Nick Henderson presented on topics such as the impact living in Direct Provision has on mental health; the need for HIQA inspections in centres; alternatives to the system; and the urgent need to clear the backlog of asylum cases to reduce long delays in the application process.
