SaorEd Learner Support Volunteer
We are seeking learner support volunteers to provide online education support to learners on our SaorEd platform.
Main Purpose of the Role
As a learner support volunteer you will be assisting the SaorEd online education service by providing 1-to-1 support and assistance to our learners. This is an excellent opportunity for people involved in educational roles, tutoring, or community work, and students who would like to make a difference to the education gaps currently impacting people from underserved communities in Ireland, particularly international protection applicants, Ukrainians, and refugees. You will be assisting students in courses such as English language (A1 – C1), digital skills (basic to advanced), and much more. You may not feel you have skills in each subject; however your support can be provided with technical assistance, moral support, and creating study plans.
Main Tasks:
- Assisting individual learners navigate the courses they are taking on SaorEd.
- Advise and make plans with learners based on their needs and desired outcomes.
- Committing to meeting assigned learners on a semi-regular basis.
Full support and guidance will be provided by the Online Education Coordinator.
Person Specification
We are seeking volunteers with some of the following experiences/skills:
- Good communication skills, patience, and attention to detail.
- Previous experience with people from underserved communities or lived experience.
- Expertise or special skills in English language, IT, or personal guidance.
- Knowledge of the international protection system in Ireland.
- Are students in college/university seeking teaching experience, or retired teachers.
- Have a language other than English, particularly French, Arabic, Farsi, or Ukrainian.
