Communications Lead

We are looking for the right person to take charge of our daya to day communications, and to continue to develop our strategy in this area.

Job Description

Main purpose of role: Work with the CEO and the Policy and Programmes Manager to develop and implement a communications strategy on behalf of the organisation.

Hours/Week: Part-time or possible full-time option

Location: Ideally Limerick-based

Main tasks

  1. Write and distribute press releases and statements in collaboration with the CEO;
  2. Maintain and manage the organisation’s social media presence through consistent, regular and appropriate posting on all channels;
  3. Act as webmaster for the Doras website and ensure it remains current and is updated regularly;
  4. Support Doras project websites and social media channels, including SaorEd;
  5. Maintain contact lists for Doras supporters and media contacts in line with GDPR obligations;
  6. Compile and circulate a quarterly e-bulletin on the organisation’s work and areas of activity;·
  7. Assist in the preparation, production, publication and distribution of posters, leaflets and other publicity materials to ensure consistent branding across all material;
  8. Compile an Annual Report and statement of impact each year;
  9. Ensure management and security of all Doras online communications accounts;  
  10. Ensure a consistent and editorial voice for the organisation in all external communications;
  11. Work to ensure inclusion, participation and representation in our communications
  12. Enhance use of original photography and video to promote Doras

Campaigning and Fundraising

  1. Support Doras events by assisting in planning and coordination, providing creative input, and promoting them;
  2. Organise and support online and community events that promote Doras
  3. Design, promote and implement fundraising campaigns, and help develop the organisation’s fundraising capacity


  1. Support other staff and volunteer to enhance communications skills
  2. Undertake representations and presentations on behalf of Doras
  3. Identify and support partnership development where appropriate
  4. Media monitoring and reporting
  5. Monthly reporting on key communications goals
  6. Campaigns support

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall objectives of the organisation.
